Pwn Adventure 3 Credits

I posted a few days ago that Pwn Adventure 3 was released at Ghost in the Shellcode this year. What I didn't post was this year's credits!

I created this video with a lot of help from Lightning, Rusty Wagner, and my wife:

Yes, just like last year, this is a re-creation of the credits from one of Valve's greatest contributions to gaming. This year, instead of covering Portal's credits, we covered Portal 2's credits!

This turned out to be considerably more time-consuming to create than last year's was... While the stems to Still Alive were available on the internet, the stems for Now I Only Want You Gone are not. Fortunately, I'm a Reverse Engineer! Although it's not an executable, I think I was still able to replicate the essence of the song pretty faithfully. It would be even better if I'd trained professionally as an Audio Engineer instead, but hey - you can't win 'em all!

Here are Rusty's lyrics (in case you don't want to watch them in the video):

Well here we are again
It's always such a challenge
Remember when you tried
To solve my last?

Oh, how you tried and tried
Until you gave up and failed
Under the circumstances
You've been shockingly bad

You want these points?
Now solve it!
That's what I'm counting on

I used to want you to fail, but
Now I want to waste your time

The clock is ticking now
You could use the points here
So get going and try your best

Tomcr00se just solved it all
And now leads the scoreboard
It's such a shame the same
Will never happen to you

You need these points to win it
That's what I'm counting on
I'll let you get right ot it
Now I want to waste your time

Did you not understand
That this song is a bad ruse
To keep you stumbling
By yourself and sad

But now I see you there
As you search around here
When you give up still
I will not stop feeling so bad

Go code some new disaster
That's what I'm counting on
You'll never solve this challenge
Now I want to waste your time

Now I want to waste your time

Now I want to waste your time

The song is written from our perspective as CTF challenge writers (specifically, Lightning's). Lightning put together the challenge again this year. I won't spoil it, but do you see those moving dots in the top right-hand corner? That's 6-bit binary data. You'll hopefully understand once you figure out how to get it out of the video in the first place.

Have fun!

UPDATE (2016-04-06): Well, apparently I did a good enough job on my re-creation that someone (or, I suspect, some automated algorithm) picked up my YouTube video and slapped a copyright claim on it. I contested it (as I'm pretty confident this should be covered under fair use), though, and it has been released.

Copyright claim has been released
I think this was a compliment..?
